Z31 Gutted Plenum

Do I need to perform any modifications in order to install a Z31 gutted plenum?

Absolutely not! The great thing about the Z31 gutted plenum is that all factory idle controls, EGR, and other accessories remain in their factory locations. The only change is in the length of the mounting bolts – which is not an issue as all plenums ship with the necessary mounting hardware.

I'm using blockoff plates. Will this affect drivability at all?

By using blockoff plates, the ECU will be unable to make idle adjustments and can cause the vehicle to exhibit rough idle characteristics during during cold starts or to even have a higher than normal idle once the engine has reached operating temperature. To remedy this, the idle screw on the throttle body will need to be adjusted in order to obtain optimal idle. Information regarding the location of this screw can be found in the Factory Service Manual, Haynes Manual, or other repair manual.

Do I need to tune my VG30 equipped vehicle after installation of the gutted Z31 plenum?

It is not necessary to tune the ECU, however it is highly recommended in order to achieve optimal performance.

Do I need to perform any modifications in order to install an Equal Length Tubular manifold?

Note that this is NOT intended to be a full list of changes. If you have any questions in regard to installation, please contact us and we will gladly answer any questions which you may have.
